2: THEMATIC SESSIONS

Participants are expected to take part in the thematic sessions according to responses to the Expression of Interest.

Breakout room guidelines

Each breakout room will last for 45 minutes. There will be 3 parallel breakout rooms at a time, with sub-thematic topics, as well as a fourth breakout room optional for early and mid-career researchers with optional participation. Participants may select the rooms on the day of the event.

Earlier and mid-career researchers can participate in a thematic breakout room along with his/her senior researcher, or they can participate in a different breakout room. There will be also an optional room exclusively for earlier and mid-career researchers to meet each other.

Changing breakout rooms during the activity will be allowed.

One participant from each room will be requested to summarise the discussions into 2 or 3 key ideas and send them in a bullet point format to the organising committee. These key ideas will assist the conveners to present at the Closing Session. The notes will be sent via email within 1 day of the session to farhana.rahman@science.org.au and flaviac.confap@gmail.com.

In each breakout room, a member of the organising committee will be present to observe the activity.

All breakout rooms will be recorded for organisational purposes.

Guiding questions for breakout room discussions

⇒ Leveraging off complementing research capabilities and infrastructure, what key research areas could be benefited from sharing of scientific expertise?
⇒ Is there a possibility for organising online symposiums that will motivate and foster collaborative activities?
⇒ Is there an ongoing project that could be benefited from a partnership with Brazilian/Australian researchers?
⇒ Is there a new research proposal/pipeline project that could be jointly explored?
