Welcome


The Department of Education, Skills and Employment (DESE) in cooperation with Brazil’s National Council for State Funding Agencies (CONFAP) and supported by the Brazilian Academy of Science and the Australian Academy of Science (AAS) is hosting the Australia–Brazil Virtual Research Collaboration (VRC) event virtually in November 2021.


The VRC has a focus on COVID -19 research and aims to enhance research collaboration between Australia and Brazil by supporting institution-to-institution and researcher-to-researcher links by showcasing research excellence and stimulating ideas for collaborative research projects. The VRC will:

  • Promote international awareness in Australia and Brazil’s education and research capabilities in areas of emerging importance
  • Identify and nurture international cooperation, opportunities, and partnerships between Australian and Brazilian institutions
  • Increase access to Australian and Brazilian research expertise


The VRC will focus on the following three topics held over three days, two-hour themed sessions, between 5 November and 19 November.  Each Stream will be held between 8:00 am-10:00 am AEST and 6:00 pm-8:00 pm Brasilia standard time. The VRC will also include an Opening, a Closing and an Assessment session. 

  • Stream 1: Health system responses and public policies
  • Stream 2: Medical treatments and therapies
  • Stream 3: One Health
