Accessibility Assistance Grants are available for Science at the Shine Dome 2024 to support attendance by delegates who need assistance at the event and/or to enhance their participation in the event. This grant is intended to enable and support the participation of registered Science at the Shine Dome attendees by providing funding to cover additional expenses they may incur, such as travel costs for informal carers to accompany event participants, specialised transport, an AUSLAN interpreter, or other relevant professional services.
Applications will be eligibility checked, and where eligible, approval will be advised within a fortnight of submission or by 5.00pm AEST Monday 2 September - whichever is sooner. Where applications are successful, funding will be released within a week of approval being advised.
The Academy will endeavour to support as many applications as possible, and applications will be processed on a first come, first served basis. Once the available grant funding is exhausted, the application portal will automatically close and any incomplete or unsubmitted applications will not be accepted.
Please note:
- The Ian Wark Theatre at the Shine Dome is equipped with an infrared hearing loop. For those requiring this hearing assistance, a device can be obtained at the event from the Information Desk.
- The Shine Dome has allocated and reserved disability parking. Please contact us at events@science.org.au to discuss any special parking requirements.
- The ground floor of the Shine Dome is wheelchair accessible. Due to the heritage nature of the building, however, doorways into the venue are only equipped for access by standard wheelchairs.
