CELEBRATING SCIENCE IN 2022

Science at the Shine Dome is the Australian Academy of Science’s annual flagship event. It is a three-day event where Australia’s most influential scientists gather at the Shine Dome in Canberra to celebrate and honour outstanding achievements in science. It is a time for researchers from all disciplines and career levels to come together to present, share, network and collaborate.

Science at the Shine Dome attracts a large and diverse national and international audience, offering boundless networking opportunities with Academy Fellows, Chief Scientists, Nobel Prize winners, early- and mid-career researchers, government representatives, politicians, media, science--associated organisations, and the science interested general public.

2022 is a special year, as we come together in person at the Shine Dome for this event for the first time since 2019. The event will be hybrid, so audiences can join us in person in Canberra or from anywhere in the world, online.

You are invited to join us to celebrate science in 2022.

PROGRAM

TUESDAY 22 NOVEMBER

Three admission ceremonies will be conducted for Fellows elected to the Academy in 2020, 2021 and 2022. The ceremonies will allow the Fellows to sign the prestigious Charter Book and be formally admitted to the Academy by the Academy President, Professor Chennupati Jagadish AC PresAA FTSE.

The ceremonies will be followed by a cocktail reception in the grounds of the recently renovated and restored Ian Potter House.

This is a unique opportunity to be in the room with some of Australia’s most distinguished scientists, across all disciplines. Catered breaks will also give those in the Shine Dome the opportunity to meet and network with these outstanding researchers.

Following a day of remarkable science, the gala dinner will be held at the Great Hall of Parliament House. Hear from a special guest speaker, and network with representatives from across the science sector.

At the gala dinner, the Academy’s most prestigious medals will be presented for 2020–22 – Macfarlane Burnet Medal, Matthew Flinders Medal and Ruby Payne-Scott Medal.
